Brown & Rainbow Trout
The big news in Patagonia fly-fishing is here: the lodge at Estancia Pilo Lil. We are excited to announce that this 2022 fly fishing season, we are opening the doors at the newest fly fishing destination in Northern Patagonia. Located in the middle of the Patagonian wilderness along the banks of the prolific Aluminé River, Pilo Lil is among the finest operations in Patagonia featuring exceptional lodging, cuisine, service, staff, equipment, guides and, of course, world class fly fishing.
The Lodge
Estancia Pilo Lil is located on the west bank of the prolific Aluminé River with 10 miles of private river frontage and access to the best and most secluded stretches of this superb fishery. The estancia (ranch) is 23,000 acres and the attractive Pilo Lil Lodge offers 6 comfortable and well appointed rooms and 5 private bathrooms.
The Rivers
From the lodge, guests will have easy access to the countless stretches available on the Aluminé River. In addition, all of our guests will have the opportunity to fish the diverse and productive waters in the vicinity such as spring creeks, smaller streams and rivers such as the Lower Malleo, the Quillen, the Malalco, the Pulmari, the Nahuel Mapi, Collon Cura and the Chimehuin.
Fishing can be by both floating and/or wading and all forms of fly fishing will apply with dries, nymphs, wets and streamers offering diverse fishing opportunities depending on the conditions and the requests of the client. This truly is a program for everybody.
The Aluminé River flows southward out of the iconic Lake Aluminé for approximately 100 miles before it empties into the Collon Cura River. It flows from north to south along the foothills of the Andes, keeping about a 30-mile permanent distance from the border with Chile.
Surrounded by forested mountains, the Aluminé River flows rampant through this beautiful lake country. The river is surrounded by breathtaking landscapes, unique vegetation, incredible rock formations and diverse wildlife such as condors, eagles, falcons, hawks, quail, waterfowl, Red Deer, wild boars, Pumas, Guanacos, foxes.
Location
Estancia Pilo Lil is located only 40 minutes from the San Martin de los Andes Regional Airport (Chapelco) and central to other Patagonia fly fishing lodges, such as San Huberto, Tipiliuke and Arroyo Verde.
